W.G.S. Contractors, of Thibodaux, LA, was selected to perform utilities installation on the expansion project for British Petroleum’s (BP) Houma Operations Learning Center (HOLC).
Brian Perk, owner of W.G.S., said his company was brought on board to make improvements to existing drainage, retention and detention ponds at the BP facility.
“We’re familiar with BP, and with plant work, in general,” says Perk. “This facility is an important part of the economy in the Houma-Thibodaux area, and we take great pride in providing them with our promise of superior work.”
The HOLC is BP’s flagship learning facility in Houma. It provides learning opportunities for the nearly 700 members of BP’s offshore production operations workforce in the Gulf of Mexico.
Sitting adjacent to Fletcher Technical Community College on Hwy. 311 in Schriever, the area serves as a hub for conducting training and education for the technical trades.
Perk says his company specializes in water, gas, sewer and drainage. And says the main promise of his family run business is that, “We get things done.”
“If it has anything to do with pipe, … we can do it,” says Perk.
Perk bought the company in 1999. He says on his very first job as an owner of the company, W.G.S. bought the pipe it needed from F&G Services, a company QSM fully acquired in 2013.
“We’ve worked with QSM since we started in this business. I trust their service and appreciate their reliability. I think we share similar values in that we’re both family run, we have long-term employees working with us, and we both try to treat our customers like they’re a part of our families because we value those relationships.”
WGS Contractors, a fully licensed drainage and utilities contractor, is certified in gas and also operates a boring division with the ability to create 1,000 ft. bores.
The majority of its work is in South Central Louisiana. Perk says since 1999, the company has laid more tan 13,000 feet of pipe, and is proud to report none of that installation has failed.
