CKY, Inc., a civil and environmental construction company based in San Pedro, CA, won a contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers to make improvements at Southern University’s Campus Road.

The project calls for improvements to be made at Southern University Campus Road, Cap Section 14 in East Baton Rouge Parish.

The scope of work involves clearing and grubbing, demolition of wing walls, dewatering the existing culvert, construction of a new concrete box culvert, placement of compacted fill, riprap replacement and materials testing.

CKY, chose QSM to provide service and products on this project.

“Working with QSM has been outstanding,” says project superintendent Ryan Lachney. “it’s been really great to have them on board with us.”

He says, “the biggest thing I found was they were always there, on-site, or just a phone call away whenever we needed them. Such excellent attention to details and responsive customer service helps us make sure our installation goes on as scheduled.”

CKY worked with Philip Clement, at Quality Sitework. “Philip was always available to meet with me, and even make deliveries himself or meet delivery trucks whenever we needed our materials,” says Lachney.

“In a business like this, you expect the products to be good, but you can’t always count on excellent customer service. With these guys at QSM, you get excellent customer service. It helped us throughout design, delivery and installation.”

The project began in 2012. The drainage portion of the work started in December, 2013. QSM delivered multiple storm drain basins, concrete pipe, HDPE and corrugated metal pipe.
