Swampland Dirt Services, LLC has been in business for 32 years. The company prides itself on providing reliable and efficient sitework and drainage contracting throughout Louisiana.
“We’ve built a loyal clientele,” says Swampland’s owner and founder Randy Roberie. “I couldn’t have done it if I didn’t live by my word, which is to provide good and knowledgable service at a fair price.”
Drainage projects are nothing new to Swampland, and that’s why Russ Builders of Monroe, hired Swampland to serve as site prep and drainage contractor on a Dioceses of Lafayette project in Sunset, LA.
The project, Village Duchesne Rehabilitation, called for Swampland to perform site prep and drainage installation at the facility which is owned by the Diocese of Lafayette. It’s a 70-unit assisted living apartment complex for the elderly and handicapped in the area.
The scope of work was established to improve drainage and eliminate open ditches.
Roberie said this job was challenging because they ran into a number of existing water lines that were not on any plans. But, being able to quickly adjust to and handle setbacks like that is one of the things that sets Swampland apart.
“We just roll with it,” says Roberie. “We always know something might crop up. You’ve got to be responsive, and you have to think about how you can move things along without cutting any corners.”
Russ Builders served as the GC, Ardoin Architecture were the architects on this job.
In addition to the goals of improving drainage, Russ Builders lifted the road, switched the roadway surface from asphalt to concrete, and sloped the shoulders of the roadway.
The project called for A-2000 PVC pipe, pre-cast catch basins and Nyoplast catch basins, MarMac Couplers to seal pipe joints, and pipe wrap — a waterproofing fabric barriere membrane designed to seal joints on arched pipe and span culverts.
Swampland is based in Grand Prairie, LA, and operates statewide. The company also is licensed for work in Arkansas and Texas.
This project started in Mid June, and will be complete by the end of July. Once complete, residents and staff at Village Duchesne will be able to enjoy improved infrastructure thanks to the work of companies like Swampland, Russ Builders and Ardoin Architects.
QSM provided all drainage materials to Swampland at Village Duchesne.
