Blade Construction, of Foley, AL, has an ambitious plan to provide high quality site work across the Gulf South. Currently licensed in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, Blade bids on projects ranging from small subdivisions to larger scale infrastructure development.
When Colin Uter, Blade’s Chief Executive Officer, brought his company to the Louisiana market, he needed to establish a network of reliable suppliers. Steven Gros, in QSM’s Schriever office, met with Uter and went over the requirements for a project in East Houma.
The project, Parkwood Place Subdivision, features 155 lots in phase 1. Developed by S.P. LaRussa, as a low-income community, Parkwood Place will comprise more than 200 homes on 42 acres between Senator Street and Memory Lane in Houma.
A $2.7 million grant was used to install infrastructure, roads, drainage and sewerage.
QSM provided a full package of drainage materials to Blade on this project.
Uter says, “QSM has been remarkable to work with. They really understand the business, and I think they understand the needs of construction firms like mine.”
“What we really want is the confidence that materials are going to be delivered in a timely manner, and that we’ll get exactly the products we need. Steven not only met with me ahead of the job, but showed up on site on delivery days, and personally went through all products to assure us that we got what we needed to spec, and with regards to quantity.”
Parkwood Place was Blade’s first job with QSM, but Uter says it won’t be the last.
“They’ve shown me they want to win my business. That’s great!”
QSM provided Blade with Contech A-2000 PVC and ULTRA FLO pipe for the project.
Blade Construction specializes in site prep, foundation work and heavy construction. As Uter says, “anything to do with infrastructure.” The company works in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
