Onshore Materials, LLC develops tailor-made solutions for heavy civil construction, with a solid reputation, and completion of many large-scale projects across the Gulf South, and that’s why The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, awarded a contract for constructing the eighth levee reach on the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain (WSLP) Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction project to Onshore Materials, LLC.
This contract, WSLP-105, will build approximately 3.0 miles of the 18.5-mile-long levee system along the West shore of Lake Pontchartrain. The purpose of the project is to provide 100-year level risk reduction to the areas primarily in St. John the Baptist, St. James, and St. Charles Parishes.
Work on WSLP-105 is being performed in St. John the Baptist Parish.
When Onshore Materials won the contract, Lynn Arceneaux knew just whom to call.
“Steven Gros, at QSM was one of my first calls,” said Arceneaux.
“QSM is a local company that knows this area well, and they understand project management,” says Arceneaux. “They’ve got excellent customer service, good product support, and competitive pricing. All of that helps our team manage these large jobs more efficiently.”
Says Arceneaux, “What I like best about working with QSM is the ability to make just one call and get all the product support needed throughout the project.”
At WSLP-105, Onshore Materials will build the levee to an elevation of 11 feet. Work started in November, 2023, and is scheduled for completion in late 2027.
This project is special to Onshore Materials because they’re a local, Louisiana small business, and because the communities of South Louisiana are where employees and colleagues call home.
Says Steven Gros, “the interesting thing about this particular project, and a good testament to Onshore’s ability to act fast and deliver, is that the lead time was short from the date at which they won the project to when we needed to deliver raw materials.
“With excellent communication between QSM, Onshore, and Contech, we beat the estimated lead time by almost two months. The pipe is on site now, and Onshore is working away.”
QSM supplied Onshore with the following items …
Pipe was manufactured by Contech Engineered Solutions, LLC.
The West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project will achieve 100-year storm surge risk reduction by a variety of structural and non-structural features to include: levees, floodwalls, and pumps.
