Behind the Scenes at QSM: Living Your Legacy Workshop

Companies don’t build legacies. People do. At QSM, this idea isn’t just a slogan — it’s something the team puts into practice, every day.

At QSM, the hum of day-to-day operations recently gave way to something quieter, something purposeful. Five QSM team members — Blake Fogleman, Kyle Cuntz, Jonathan Wilhite, Corey Cloninger, and Dayne Thibodaux — stepped away from their daily routines to take part in a workshop led by leadership coach Amy Castronova: “Living Your Legacy.” The experience was equal parts reflection, challenge, and a practical, personal action plan.

For Josh Loeske, CEO of QSM, this wasn’t about checking a “team-building” box. “I’ve always believed that discipline and purpose are at the heart of a great company,” Josh said. “But it only works if you’re willing to put those words into action — not just for the business, but for the people who make it run. When you invest in your team’s growth, you’re investing in something bigger than one P&L statement. You’re building a company — and a community — that lasts.”

The workshop, designed by Castronova, flipped the typical idea of “legacy” on its head. Instead of leaving impact for the future, participants were pushed to consider what it means to live with legacy now. Through guided storytelling, hard questions about personal values, and exercises built around setting meaningful, actionable goals, each attendee was nudged to see that the real power of a legacy is in the day-to-day — in how you lead, support, and show up for those around you.

“We talked about the difference between success and significance,” said Corey Cloninger, one of QSM’s sales representatives. “A lot of companies talk about legacy as something you do at the end of your career. But what if you make it part of how you show up … every day, every single job, and in every interaction you have with your wife, your family, friends, … in general?”

“I went into this with an open mind, and didn’t really know what to expect,” said Corey. “I came away  from the experience grateful. Grateful to realize I am in a good spot, and with the knowledge I learned, I now have more than a few ideas I can use starting today.”

That focus on the present — on specific, deliberate changes — was central to the day. Castronova guided the group through frameworks for self-reflection and goal setting, urging participants to dig for clarity about what matters to them personally and professionally. In Castronova’s workshops, she says: “The best way to start living your legacy, is to ask: if you lived today on purpose, what would you do differently?”

For Jonathan Wilhite, the workshop reinforced the impact of sharing stories, both wins and setbacks. “The point of the day was to find your big “why” in life, and then to design a vision for the future.” Wilhite says, “the workshop was interactive and intentional. Everything comes back to your purpose. What’s your North Star? In-the-end, it seems that everyone’s purpose in life is to help others, and hearing what drives my coworkers — the things that matter to them outside of work — made me see that we’re all building something bigger than just ourselves here.”

Josh’s approach at QSM isn’t to claim the credit. “My job is to put the right pieces in place so good people can become great,” he said. “I want this to be a place where you can grow — not just in your role, but as a person. If we get that right, profitability will follow. It’s about creating an environment where people want to give their best — not just to the company, but to the people and places around them. ”

“My goal, with this workshop,” says Loeske, “is to create a space where commitment and caring follow — and the positive effects ripple outward.”

What sets QSM apart isn’t just technical competence, or even its emphasis on customer partnership.
