QSM has hired William Powell Vice President of Site Solutions, adding an experienced business-development leader to its growing team.

Powell will lead the management and growth of QSM’s OEM partner channel while helping the company pursue new business across its existing eight-state service area.

He also will identify expansion opportunities beyond QSM’s current eight-state service region, which will position QSM to serve OEM partners seeking representation across a broad area of markets and sectors.

In the new role, Powell will work closely with QSM’s CEO Josh Loeske and Site Solutions Sales Manager Eric Beach. His initial priorities include gaining a deeper understanding of current customers’ needs, strengthening QSM’s presence in its existing markets, supporting the company’s recent expansion into Texas, and developing representation agreements and industry relationships across a broader territory.

Powell also plans to learn from QSM’s top performers by asking open-ended questions about what they are seeing in the field, what customers need, and where the company can add value. That process will help the Site Solutions team find new ways to solve problems efficiently and serve as a one-stop shop for a wider range of project needs.

Powell brings more than 10 years of business experience to QSM, including deep experience in site solutions, geosynthetics, geomembranes, and market development.

His career has included work with GeoSolutions, Inc., Inland Tarp & Liner, LLC, AssetGuard, and an engineering consulting firm in which he served as a partner.

His specialty is identifying, developing, and growing markets through a team-based approach.

He has built his career by working closely with engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and other industry partners to match the needs of a project with the right engineered solutions.

“My initial focus will be to understand our current customers’ needs and introduce QSM more broadly across the country,” Powell said. “That includes building on the company’s established work in Louisiana and Mississippi, supporting its recent expansion into Texas, and pursuing new business-development opportunities across the United States.”

Powell said QSM’s reputation, customer focus, and approach to problem-solving were central to his decision to join the company. He first came to know QSM as one of his customers and saw firsthand how its team worked with manufacturers and end users.

“Personally, I’ve always tried to align myself with companies that deliver quality solutions, focus on customer service, and take a forward-thinking, problem-solving approach,” Powell said. “I also like working with strong teams. QSM brings all of those attributes to the table, and that approach has been the foundation of the company’s success.”

That impression grew from his experience working with QSM in the field.

“When QSM was one of my customers, I could see it in action,” Powell said. “The QSM team was always there, always looking out for the end user, and always keeping the bigger picture in mind. I liked that about them. QSM is already a leader in site solutions, and the team wants to be the best. From a culture standpoint, joining QSM was a no-brainer.”

Powell believes QSM’s standing in the industry creates a strong base for continued growth.

As he assumes leadership of Site Solutions, he plans to build on the team’s technical knowledge, credibility, and established relationships.

“William’s experience working with both manufacturers and a distribution company gives him a valuable understanding of how every part of the channel works,” said Josh Loeske, CEO of QSM.

“He can envision something bigger for QSM and develop the strategy to make that vision a reality. Just as important, he wants to understand what the market needs so we can bring owners and engineers the right cost-effective solutions for their projects. We’re excited to have William lead our expansion into a larger geography and grow QSM’s position as the industry expert well beyond our roots in South Louisiana.”

“QSM has presented me with this opportunity to lead and develop a sales team in a professional and driven manner,” Powell said. “The team has credibility and integrity in its work. I see opportunities to build on those strengths, grow the business, strengthen existing relationships, and develop new ones throughout the industry.”

Listening First; Solving Problems

For Powell, serving a customer starts with listening. He describes his approach with a straightforward objective: turn a $5 million problem into a $2 million problem without sacrificing quality.

“The best way to do that is to listen, keep the bigger picture in mind, and work with engineered products and solutions,” Powell said. “Not every problem can be solved with the same commodity or product, even when those projects fall within a similar scope.”

That perspective fits QSM’s role as a technical resource for engineers, contractors, public agencies, OEM partners, and project owners. Powell said the company’s responsibility goes beyond selling products. It must understand each project, help customers weigh their options, and provide dependable support from early planning through field installation.

Asking the right questions is central to that responsibility. By understanding the challenges surrounding a project — not just its most immediate need — the team can identify opportunities to simplify purchasing, coordinate compatible solutions, and help customers work more efficiently.

Powell wants customers to view QSM as a one-stop shop capable of addressing more of their project needs through long-term, trusted relationships.

“Planning, design, budgets, logistics, channel management, and implementation all come together in the field, where the products and solutions are deployed,” Powell said. “The projects we work on are often for the greater good of the communities where our partners, engineers, contractors, neighbors, and team members live and work. That’s a rewarding life.”

Leadership Grounded in Service

Powell said three of QSM’s Core Values, … Excellence, Ownership, and Integrity, … will guide his leadership of the Site Solutions team.

“It matters how you do business,” he said. “I want to lead a team that stays focused on the customer, with integrity at the heart of the work.”

He approaches business relationships with mutual success as the goal. That means helping customers and partners reduce burdens, helping all parties involved to work efficiently, and seeing projects clearly through every stage of the planning, design, and implementation process.

“It all comes back to helping people,” Powell said. “Help them do what they do. Help them lift a burden. Help them work more efficiently. Help them see things in the best light. Be honest, forthright, and communicative every step of the way.”

That commitment to service also shapes his plans for QSM’s OEM partner channel.

Powell wants customers and manufacturing partners to see QSM not simply as a sales organization, but as a team of solutions experts capable of supporting successful projects — and helping create them.

By developing a thorough understanding of its OEM partners’ product catalogs, QSM can identify opportunities earlier, bring complementary solutions together, and help customers address more of a project through one trusted team.

“The goal is to understand what our OEM partners can offer, ask customers the right questions, and create solutions that make work easier for both sides of that equation.

“When I take time to reflect on my career path and the opportunities I’ve had, it all boils down to the fact that I really like to help people,” Powell said. “This business is about service and doing things well.”

Powell holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from Texas Tech University. He mentors men from his alma mater and fraternity and serves as vice president of the Chi Psi Alumni Board. He lives in Lubbock, Texas, with his wife, Bethany, and their three dogs.

Outside work, he is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing. He is also a dedicated college football fan and passionate supporter of Texas Tech. As he joins a QSM team whose members represent plenty of other college loyalties, Powell is ready for the good-natured banter that comes with bringing a West Texas school into the mix.
