When Advanced Quality Construction won the contract to build the Labarre Street Detention Pond and Drainage Improvements, it collaborated with engineers at Buchart Horn, who St. Tammany Parish had selected as the engineering firm on the project.

The goal was to build a detention pond and make drainage improvements in a manner that was as cost effective as possible for St. Tammany.

The choice was made to use a combination of Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP), A-2000 PVC, and concrete for drainage in the road beds.

Kirk Van Camp, Vice President at AQ Construction, says his company always strives to produce work in a timely fashion, and within budget. As to AQC’s choice to obtain materials from QSM, Van Camp said, we’ve been buying from them (QSM) for seven or eight years. They give great service. They really hustle on their jobs, and they provide honest answers with very helpful assistance throughout the project — from the initial bid request all the way through construction.”

This project required 10,000 feet of drainage pipe, and nearly 8,000 feet of sewer pipe.

St. Tammany parish listed specifications on its preferred materials, and AQC collaborated with Buchart Horn to fit materials for optimization with regards to design and budget.

Mira Para, of Buchart Horn, says he not only worked with AQC, but also had the pleasure to talk with staff at Quality Sitework about the integrity of specific materials and availability.

“We worked with AQC to assure the PVC pipe would be used in the most sensible of locations in the design of this drainage system,” says Para. “Quality Sitework provided the materials in a timely fashion, and that helped everyone to deliver.”

The project has a defined benefit area of 200 homes in St. Tammany Parish.

Buchart Horn and AQC worked together on the detention basin, outfall drainage, enclosure of ditches and gravity sewer lines on this project.
