David Marcott at Creek Construction Company, has seen and done plenty in 40 years of heavy civil construction. He knows fast turn arounds are sometimes part of the job, and he likes those types of challenges.

A fast turn around was called for recently in Folsom, LA, and that’s why Barriere Construction called on Marcott to tackle the task.

Barriere won a contract to produce roadway construction on LA 450 in St. Tammany and Washington parishes. The work runs between Hwy. 25, north to Hwy. 16. The project was awarded by the Louisiana Department of Transportation Development (DOTD).

Creek Construction served as a sub to Barriere on a portion of the LA 450 project. Creek was called on to install double box culverts with concrete headwalls. This portion of the road could only be closed for up to five days.

Creek Construction completed the work within that time frame.

“We removed an old wooden bridge and replaced it with a double box culvert,” says Marcott. “We placed concrete headwalls on either end. This makes for a better roadway, and a better crossing.”

Marcott says it’s great to work with Barriere, and it’s always a point of pride to take part in DOTD work.

“My company has been in business for 13 years, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with Barriere for all of that time.” Marcott previously worked for Barriere before founding his company. “I was with Barriere for 17 years. I learned a lot from working with them, and I think we both adhere to the same goals when it comes to priding ourselves on good work and high quality.”

When asked why he likes working with QSM, Marcott said, “because they know this end of the business very well. With QSM it’s just one call. I call them, and everything seems to just fall into place. QSM handles all of the footwork, the logistics, and they’re good at communication. That means I can schedule my work with confidence.”

The work Creek Construction performed on LA 450 is part of a larger project on the roadway. This bridge replacement is just one component of the newly improved infrastructure.

Crews from Creek and Barriere removed and replaced drainage structures, placed borrow, and removed and replaced asphalt roadway in this area. The work was performed in early summer, 2015.

Creek Construction, a Louisiana licensed general contractor, has been in business for 13 years. Creek specializes in heavy civil contracting. Creek works mostly in the Florida parishes of Louisiana.

Barriere, best known from it’s company slogan “Building a Better Louisiana,” is a locally owned industrial contracting company. It combines expertise in civil construction, levee and berm construction, road rehabilitation, and paving throughout the New Orleans and Baton Rouge metro areas.
