April Roundup: A Quick Glance at Construction Projects Going on Right now

Share in:

QSM works, and many contractors are working now, too. In this time of uncertainty, it’s good to read good news — so that’s what we’re going to do. We’re bringing you this roundup as a way to shine a light, and to foster camaraderie across our industry.

Infrastructure, private & public construction, and engineering are vital parts our economy. Here’s a capsule-sized glance at what’s currently going on in our area. If you have projects you want us to highlight, give us a call, or use the contact form on our website to submit project names and contact information.

Cypress Reserve Subdivision, KVC, llc: D.R. Horton’s Cypress Reserve is one of the newest communities in south Louisiana. The resort-style subdivision, built in seven phases, is located near I-12, with ease of access to St. Tammany parish, Hammond and New Orleans.

KVC, llc has been working on civil site prep at this location since 2018, and construction is on-going for the latter phases today. QSM supplied 36-inch ULTRA FLO® CMP, concrete pipe, and HDPE to the contractor.

Of interest here is Contech’s ULTRA FLO® — a spiral rib pipe with a smooth interior that is the industry alternative to reinforced concrete pipe. The smooth interior improves hydraulic capacity while the exterior box ribs provide structural strength. ULTRA FLO weighs less than 10% of reinforced concrete pipe and comes in longer lengths, greatly reducing handling and installation costs.

These materials were installed throughout the property. Cypress Reserve sits on more than 500 acres of wooded land, with more than 600 homesites on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain.contech ultra flo pipe - louisiana, mississippi, alabama, florida - QSM

1325 Annunciation Apartments, Cycle Construction: Cycle Construction has been working in New Orleans’ Lower Garden District on a substantial project that brings upscale apartment living to the heart of the city. This property is just minutes from downtown, and provides easy access to the St. Charles Ave. streetcar, Tchoupitoulas St. and all of Uptown New Orleans.

This stylish apartment building blends the modern, while looking at place in the historic neighborhood. QSM supplied Cycle Construction with the following items on this job: pipe, fittings, and catch basins.

CNO Paving Repairs & Replacement, Fleming Construction: Fleming construction is working on the west bank of Orleans parish in Algiers. The project encompasses a large area of residential streets. Paul Ramagos and his crews are working on the project.

QSM supplied 28,000 square yards of geotextile fabric. Using GEOTEX® 701, made by Propex, Fleming will perform repair and refurbishment at this location.

GEOTEX® 701 is a polypropylene, staple fiber, needle-punched nonwoven geotextile produced by Propex. It meets the LaDOTD Class D specs, and is used to separate aggregate from underlying soil – and thus extend road life.

Reduce road maintenance costs, and speed construction time by using Propex GeoTextile fabrics.
