Drainage & Construction Metro New Orleans: QSM Supplies Contractors on Key Area Projects

Share in:

Quality Sitework (QSM) is providing drainage and site prep materials to many construction projects across the metro area. Current projects in metro New Orleans include: the Convention Center pedestrian parkway, a new building at Lamarque Ford in Kenner, subdivision drainage for a residential development in Marrero, and drainage for the ongoing improvements at Bourbon Street.

Convention Center Pedestrian Park

Construction is underway on the $65 million transformation of Convention Center Boulevard in downtown New Orleans. Stretching from Poydras Street upriver to Henderson Street, the project will connect the Warehouse / Arts District with the Central Business District and the historic French Quarter.

These improvements are part of a comprehensive plan, known as the Convention Center District Development. This plan will result in significant visual, functional and safety improvements to the area around the Convention Center. The current phase of construction is centered on the 7.5 blocks directly in front of the Convention Center, where contractors have ripped up part of the roadway to build a pedestrian park.

Morial Convention Center. The Convention Center attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year through the events it hosts, but also plays host to locals with its own special programs and events.

Plans for the pedestrian park and street improvements are the result of traffic studies that took into consideration the needs of event attendees, cruise ship passengers, warehouse district residents and businesses, commuters to the CBD, and port freight traffic.

The project aims to improve traffic patterns in the Warehouse District, in addition to providing safer and new experiences for persons visiting or living in the area.

Several area construction firms are working together on the project, and thus far, QSM has supplied catch basins and castings to Cycle Construction, and catch basins plus reinforced concrete pipe to Creek Construction.

The pedestrian park is expected to be complete by January 2021.

Bourbon Street Drainage Improvements

Construction also is underway in the 500 block of Bourbon Street, where Hard Rock Construction is performing work that’s part of the $9.5 million 2nd phase of the Bourbon Street reconstruction plan.
