QSM Welcomes Heath Hayes to the Civil / Site Prep Team

QSM is pleased to announce the addition of Heath Hayes as Outside Sales Representative for its Sitework Solutions Division, covering the key territories of Louisiana and Mississippi. With nearly 15 years of hands-on experience in civil construction, project management, and regional sales, Hayes brings a unique, full-spectrum perspective to QSM’s growing team.
Hayes’ career began in 2012, just out of college, as an office engineer performing takeoffs in civil construction. He quickly moved up the ranks, spending a decade as an estimator and project manager across three civil contractors and one general contractor.
Seeking a new challenge, Hayes pivoted to the sales side of construction, representing Contech Engineered Solutions for five years as their sales rep for Southeast Louisiana and Coastal Mississippi. In that capacity, he worked closely with QSM, first as a contractor ordering from them, then as a manufacturer’s representative providing them with materials.
“I got to work with QSM from all different angles before accepting a position with them recently,” Hayes said. “I’ve seen firsthand how much pride they take in their work and how they deliver value for their customers.”
In his new role, Hayes is focused on what he does best: building relationships and making life easier for civil contractors. “I’ve been in their shoes,” he explained. “I know the headaches they face. My approach is to know my clients’ needs and go further than just a purchase order. I want to go the extra mile for them, because doing so is rare, and because it is the right thing to do.”
Hayes has supplied materials for numerous large-scale projects across Louisiana and Mississippi, including the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain levee project — one of the region’s most significant recent civil works efforts. “I love getting to travel and meet new contractors. Building those relationships is the most rewarding part of the job,” he said.
For Eric Beach, QSM’s Sales Director, Hayes’ comprehensive background set him apart from the start. “We had the advantage of having a relationship before the interview process began. We were all familiar with how he worked, as well as his values,” Beach said. “He brings a valuable outlook; he’s been a contractor, a manufacturer’s rep, and now a material supplier. The number of people with that breadth of experience is a very short list.”
Beach also noted that Hayes is a natural cultural fit at QSM: “He’s competitive, energetic, and wants to have fun while getting the job done.”
When asked what clients value most about working with QSM, Hayes pointed to the company’s attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond for every project. “The attention to detail is like no other when working with QSM,” he said. “I want to be able to provide our clients with the materials they need, while easing the stress of their projects.”
Outside of work, Hayes enjoys the outdoors, particularly deer hunting, and values time spent with his wife and family. He’s also an avid traveler — always looking for new places to explore.
