Ever hear of Inserta Tee? Rudy Schmidt has, and he knows the secret.
Inserta Tee is a high performance, easy-to-install service connection consisting of a PVC hub, rubber sleeve and stainless steel band. It’s watertight, air testable seal provides superior performance, and as Schmidt says, “sometimes its the only part you can use at a critical juncture on a job.”
Schmidt is a project manager at Champion Contractors. Champion ordered a large quantity of A-2000 PVC drainage pipe and fittings from Quality Sitework, but the fittings and the Inserta Tee, in particular was something Schmidt wanted to talk about.
“We hired QSM to send us a big order of pipe. Big range of sizes, too, going all the way from 42” down to 8-inch diameter. It was a large order. The fittings were all custom, with plenty of different connections, and we had one instance that I just knew would be a good place to use an Inserta Tee.”
Inserta Tee provides a three-piece lateral connection consisting of a PVC hub, a rubber sleeve, and a stainless steel band. Contractors in the know, like Champion, use Inserta Tee to make quick lateral connections where time is of the essence.
Inserta Tee is designed to match the internal radius of any pipe. This means services can be connected wherever and whenever needed. It allows for easier grading of the mainline. It also greatly reduces costs by reducing labor hours and pipe materials.
“We used the Inserta Tee, and it went in easy as can be,” said Schmidt. “I had seen them and worked with them before. Our superintendent was surprised by how quickly it went in. If you have an odd T or an odd Y — they’re a lot easier to work with using these products. You just keep laying pipe efficiently and come back to add the Inserta Tee when you’re done. Simple as that!”
Champion just wrapped Phase 1 of the Springs at Fremaux Project, and they’re now about 50-percent of the way into Phase 2. They started work on the project in January and expect to be complete by late May. It’s a 13-building townhouse and apartment community adjacent to the latest commercial development in Slidell just off of Interstate-10.
Champion Contractors specializes in underground utility work — everywhere from Grand Isle to Baton Rouge, and from New Orleans to Biloxi. They’re licensed in Louisiana and Mississippi.
