In many ways, you can say Larry Loyd Construction, Harcot Construction and QSM are siblings — corporately speaking.
The three firms are all in the Civil Construction industry. Based in South Louisiana, all three companies have “sort of grown up together through the years,” says Josh Loeske, CEO at QSM.
Chad Hambacher, President of Larry Loyd and Managing Partner at Harcot agrees. “Josh understands the industry in a way that very few suppliers do. I took a liking to that attitude, and we’ve relied on each other for advice and industry knowledge as we’ve grown our businesses and as we’ve expanded into new markets.”
Larry Loyd Construction and Harcot both excel at residential and commercial site work development: Larry Loyd in the Slidell to Hammond market; Harcot in the Livingston to Lafayette region.
Larry Loyd offers turnkey construction services, and Harcot began as a soil stabilization company, but now provides full service civil construction and site prep.
Kevin Bardy, managing partner in Harcot, says he enjoys working with QSM because of the attitude and preparation they bring to every job. “Their people know this industry,” says Bardy. “We call on them because they can deliver the products we need in a timely fashion, with excellent customer service.”
Providing excellent customer service for customers such as Larry Loyd and Harcot is one of the joys of being in business says Loeske. “Larry Loyd and Harcot have been loyal with us to an extreme. We appreciate their loyalty, and it’s because of their trust that we always promise to bend over backwards for any request of theirs,” he said.
“We all need to show profitability to survive,” said Loeske, “but knowing that we’ll be supplying materials to Larry Loyd and Harcot justifies us doing whatever we can to take care of their requests.”
Loeske says relationships such as QSM’s with Larry Loyd and Harcot are the model on which he wants to build all of his customer relationships.
“They both have extensive project experience and they both have good systems in places to build and estimate projects.”
This helps to assure what approach, which products, and which vendor will be the ‘best’ on a job.
Loeske says, “As we all know the cheap price up front isn’t always the best price at the end. Using innovative materials, dealing with changes in configuration, and helping customers find solutions with better or longer lasting products comes with good communication. Larry Loyd and Harcot are excellent at communication, and that’s a key that helps us provide them with fast replies for good customer service.”
Hambacher says he’s enjoyed watching QSM grow and expand its business through the years. “They have the best product line for drainage and site prep materials in Louisiana.”
“We love working with them because they know their products well, and they’re always showing up at our job sites to help us move things along, which really provides a strong benefit to our customers.”
Loeske points to Larry Loyd and Harcot as strong examples of ideal business relationships. He says they’ve not only expanded into new markets, and expanded market share through the years in parallel. But, that each company has learned something of value from each other.
“We commend Larry Loyd and Harcot on the way they operate. We see it time and again that their final projects are very well received by their customers. They’ve done a good job to expand their business, and are responsive to customer needs. We aim to do the same. We’re thankful to them for the trust they place in us, and we welcome other customers who place that same level of trust in QSM.”
Loeske says, “We wish them luck as they spread their wings and grow into new markets.”
Larry Loyd has been in business for 35 years and Harcot for 25 years.
The two firms employ approximately 40 employees combined.
They work on projects involving dirt, drainage, water and sewer for commercial and residential developments. Harcot also provides soil stabilization services throughout Louisiana.
Recent projects completed for Larry Loyd include: Natchez Trace, Lakeview Regional Medical Pavilion and the PETCO. Recent projects for Harcot include Magnolia Lake Subdivision, Canterbury House and Pelican Crossing.
QSM provided materials to all of these jobs.
Materials provided include:
In closing, Hambacher says this about working with QSM:
“It’s rare for us to come across a vendor that doesn’t just act like a vendor. QSM truly understands customers. Hand’s down: they’re the best in the business.”
For QSM, the feeling is mutual. Larry Loyd, Harcot and QSM will partner with each other on many projects in the future as the New Orleans area attracts new growth, and as South Louisiana builds new residential and commercial developments across the I-10 / I-12 corridor.
