Glasco Ultraviolet is the leader in ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVG) as a disinfectant method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet light to kill or inactivate microorganisms. The process works by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting DNA, which breaks down vital cellular functions.
Glasco Ultraviolet has manufactured UV water and wastewater disinfection systems for more than 60 years. The company is headquartered in northern New Jersey. From it’s early days as an NYC based process equipment manufacturer in the food industry, through its support of the war effort during World War II, Glasco’s mission has always been to build and design process equipment that enables end use customers to operate more efficiently.”
Glasco has manufactured tens of thousands of systems that use UV light to disinfect water, air and surfaces. Today, Glasco manufacturer’s a complete range of products for UV disinfection. These products are used as “go to” solutions for treating both clean and wastewater in the residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal markets.
Glasco’s systems integrate ultraviolet lamps to provide environmentally safe disinfection. UVC light, defined as UV light emitted at wavelengths between 200 and 300 nanometers, is used as a means of disinfection.
Glasco’s UV technology has the ability to render microorganisms and waterborne pathogens inactive. The process is easy-to-install, safe to operate, and environmentally friendly. UV radiation is proven to be fast, reliable, and economical. In short: Glasco UV is effective.
How does it work? UVC lights target microorganisms DNA structure. Exposure to UVC light prevents microorganisms from reproducing and cells that cannot reproduce cannot infect. This physical process renders microorganisms harmless.
Why use UV? UV disinfection is a well accepted method for treating wastewater. The main benefits of UV is that it is a green technology (no chemicals), it does not require long residence times, and it produces no harmful by-products.
UV disinfection works on a wide range of effluent.
Glasco produces a wide range of products to help you achieve disinfection at your plant or facility. From it’s residential line with the GUV “C” series, to the commercial lineup of GUV Shield devices — Glasco can treat water and wastewater at any level.
At wastewater treatment plants, Glasco offers chamber systems, horizontal systems, and vertical systems. For industrial use, Glasco can treat low flow and large flow needs. In municipal drinking water, Glasco can design and build systems to meet any flow rate.
Other applications, include: explosion proof devices, which are deployed in hazardous locations where concentrations of flammable gases, vapors, or dusts occur; cooling towers — such as air-conditioning systems, water-cooling equipment, and general mufacturing — anywhere where evaporative heat exchange occurs; and also in aquaculture: including fish farms, hatcheries, and aquariums.
Today, Glasco supports thousands of wastewater treatment plants across the globe. Its design team constantly strives to make innovations, and its manufacturing process is well honed from decades of working with expertise.
All components are tested and integrated before installation.
