QSM recently played a critical role in a major municipal infrastructure project in Church Point, Louisiana, supplying Evco Development with high-performance HP Pipe from ADS and Waterman gates — two strategic choices that delivered lasting value and impressive cost savings to the community.
Like many South Louisiana towns, Church Point has struggled with repeated flooding, particularly in districts four and five, where stormwater would often overwhelm local drainage and flow toward Plaquemine Bayou — a channel not suited for major surges. With each rain event came anxiety for residents and mounting pressure on city leaders to deliver a real solution.
After years of planning, Church Point was able to break ground on a new detention pond this year. Designed to relieve the town’s history of flooding, the detention pond will temporarily hold excess water during heavy rain, and ease the burden on bayous and local canals.
The project was designed to provide significant flood control measures for the community, and it is part of the Louisiana Watershed Initiative.

As the material supplier for the job, QSM worked closely with Evco Development to ensure that the town of Church Point received not just the highest quality products but also the most cost-effective solutions for their civil and water management needs.
QSM’s recommendation and procurement of HP Pipe from ADS provided both durability and efficiency while helping the town stay within budget. Additionally, the Waterman gates supplied by QSM offered robust water control capabilities necessary for the project’s long-term reliability.
These product choices exemplify QSM’s commitment to helping clients stretch their dollars without compromising on quality or performance.
“Partnering with Evco for this project showcases exactly what we strive to do every day at QSM: deliver the right solutions for our customers and their communities,” said Corey Cloninger, Outside Sales rep for QSM in Southwest Louisiana. “When a town like Church Point can realize significant cost savings through our recommendations, it’s a real win for everyone.”
Cloninger worked together with QSM’s Dolton Jordan, and Philip Lyons on this project.
The specific Waterman Gates supplied were 36-inch and 48-inch Spigot Back AF-41 Flap Gates, and the HP Pipe, from ADS was supplied in sizes of 36-inch and 48-inch, as well.
