David Beach, Jr. first joined QSM in 2012, after first working at other positions in various segments of the construction industry. Today, he is part of QSM’s team, where he works primarily in the civil / site prep division, from the Kenner office.

We caught up with David recently.

Let’s see what he had to say … davidBeach-qsm-02How long have you been with QSM?

A little more than 10 years; I started at QSM in 2012.

What do you like most about QSM?

It’s a combination of discipline and integrity mixed with freedom and flexibility. The owners of the company set very high standards, and we are empowered, and given the tools we need to help our team achieve those standards.

There’s an openness throughout the company that allows us to set goals, and reach them based on good communication.

What is your role in the company?

I’m a utility player, and I’m happy to be in that role. That means I’m here to help customers no matter the size or scope of project from start to finish. Sometimes that means I conduct research, sometimes I’m writing estimates, sometimes I serve in a sales position or project manager, and sometimes I’m the one following up for payment and collections.

The key is to think like a problem solver … always be solving your customers next problem, so things run smoothly.

What’s your favorite thing about the role you serve?

Helping customers achieve their vision for success. Whether it’s an easy project or a more complex one with many moving parts and products — knowing the customers I help are smiling and happy with their choice to bring business to QSM makes me want to put in the effort again, and again.

What are you proud of, as it related to your time with QSM?

I’ve learned how to be part of a well-oiled machine, and that means I’ve grown professionally in a personal way, and I also have learned more about what it takes to be a reliable teammate. That is something that serves me (us) well at the company, and in all walks of life.

Is there something you would like to be involved with more, but are not yet – at the moment?

Business development. A Star Trek story in some regards … to go where QSM has not gone before. To seek and find new customers, new architects, new contracts who are looking for a solutions supply partner that can help them do things right.

What do you do for fun outside of the office?

Mostly sports related. I play tennis and beach volleyball. In fact, I was able to approach the owners of the volleyball complex in Kenner, LA and help them to solve a nagging drainage issue by introducing them to some of our innovative products, such as Hydraway flat drain, and that made for a better playing surface throughout the complex.

Aside from the sports I play, I enjoy watching my children play sports. My daughter is on our volleyball team, and both of my sons (one now in college, the other a high school senior) played sports throughout their youth. I have enjoyed watching their games in each of the sports in which they’ve participated, and I’ve enjoyed coaching them, and helping them hone their skills.

Is there anything else you want to share about QSM or yourself that you want others to know?

It has been said that God does not put you into any situation that you and he together cannot handle. If you believe that, then it’s true.davidBeach-qsm-02How long have you been with QSM?
