Citadel Construction won the bid to build a new campus for Academy of Our Lady High School in Marrero. It contracted Beverly Construction to perform site prep and drainage installation, and Beverly called on QSM for drainage and site prep materials.

The project began earlier this summer with QSM delivering product to Beverly Construction throughout the month of July.

Brad Caillouet, Chief Estimator at Beverly Construction, says he likes to do business with QSM because he knows he can rely on delivery times and depend on site visits from the QSM team.

“In this aspect of the business, grade changes, and changes in design right before construction starts or while construction is ongoing are our greatest challenge — especially grade changes that effect precast concrete drainage,” said Caillouet.

Academy of Our Lady is a big project. It’s visible from the West Bank Expressway in Marrero, LA, where crews are working to build a new campus for the Catholic girls’ high school that is part of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

The Archdiocese committed $30 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency funds to the construction of the facility. The school currently operates from a facility not far from the construction site. The new Academy of our Lady will be a 120,000 square-foot facility on a 22-acre campus. It features eight buildings, with 35 classrooms, science labs, a culinary arts kitchen, cafeteria, performing arts center, and athletics fields.

The project is expected to be completed in 2014.

Beverly brought in 85,000 yards of sand on this project, cleared the woods on the land, handled the grading, drainage, water and sewer installation and all of the flat concrete.
