Creative Gardens Installs TrueGrid® at LaSalle Park

Creative Gardens and Landscaping, of Harvey, LA installed TrueGrid® Permeable Pavers at LaSalle Park in Metairie, and it’s not the first time this team has worked with the product.
Mario Waterhouse, of Creative Gardens, said: “We’ve worked with QSM before, and we used TrueGrid® on previous projects. I like it, as it is durable, and serves a good purpose.”
This particular project — in LaSalle Park — just south of Airline Drive called for renovation and upgrades to a community garden in the park.
The garden is used primarily by senior citizens as a functional gathering spot, and meeting place, which also has the benefits of providing nourishing fruits and vegetables to those who participate in the activities at this treasured space.
Jefferson Beautification, Inc. hired Creative Gardens and Landscaping to manage the project, which calls for new fencing, refurbishment of the raised planter garden containers, drainage and resurfacing.
“The unique thing about this project,” said Mario, “is the fact that the walking surface had to be ADA compliant. Wheelchairs have to be able to move about in this space, and that’s where the TrueGrid® comes in — it is a great product when you need a permeable, but walkable and rideable surface.”
QSM supplied more than 600 sq. ft. of TrueGrid® interlocking permeable pavers to Creative Gardens. Mario’s team was able to install the product in a short amount of time because it is so easy to work with, and once installed — the TrueGrid® was filled with clean uniform-size limestone.
TrueGrid® was used for its durability and functionality, and … as Mario says, “It is easy to work with, and fast to install.” Limestone packs and drains well, so it’s good for bridging wet areas.
When the two work in tandem, the TrueGrid® provides a structure within which the limestone sits, and then, once contained, it achieves a strong rigidity and an even compactness across the walkable or drivable area.
TrueGrid® can be used for everything from walkways and alleyways, to parkway paths, to bike paths, and even parking lots and fire roads.
